Quiet quitting

Since the epidemic, there has been a lot of interest in the phenomena known as quiet quitting. It refers to employees who have consciously chosen to perform no more than what is strictly essential for their jobs. It implies doing the task at hand without trying to go above and beyond.

And this trend affects the banking and insurance sectors as well. Although silent resigning only impacts a very tiny fraction of the workforce, a recent poll found that the number of workers in these industries who stated they are trying their utmost to do a good job decreased by roughly 10% from 2021 to 2022.

There seem to be many different explanations for quiet quitting. Some people do it because they feel underappreciated at work, while others do it to try to achieve greater balance in their life. It’s also the perception that firms generally don’t regard their employees as they ought to and are instead just trying to get the most out of them for the least amount of money.

Offer flexibility

Giving employees more employment flexibility is one approach to keep them interested and inspired to put in hard effort. Things like job sharing, flexible work schedules, hybrid work, shorter work weeks, and remote work would fall under this category.

Prioritizing

Another strategy to boost motivation is to assist younger workers in setting priorities for their work. This will assist them in avoiding work overload, which can result in burnout. The employee just needs the manager to spend a few minutes on a daily basis helping them prioritize their tasks and letting them know how much liberty they have.

Avoid perfectionism

Ironically, striving for perfection might result in silent resignation. If someone has a perfectionist personality, they will never be happy with the results of their efforts and will eventually start to doubt whether they were even worth it.

Burnout, which also kills motivation, can result from perfectionism. People must comprehend that striving for perfection at work is a bad principle.

Show appreciation

Everyone desires to be kept in the loop regarding their progress and importance to the business. Employees should receive praise from their managers, who should also let them know how they are performing and how valuable their work is to the business.
