The insurance industry is full of great jobs.

There are many excellent employment in the insurance sector. There are positions available in many different fields, including claims, underwriting, loss control, customer service, actuarial, and technology. More individuals are employed in the insurance sector today than at any other time in its history (2,594,400 – BLS May 2016). You may anticipate a flurry of hiring in the insurance sector given the workforce’s aging demographic (the average age of an insurance employee is 57 years old).

Why you didn't hear back from insurance employer?

Why is it then that applicants for jobs in insurance most frequently complain that they never hear back from the employer? We questioned employers in the insurance industry and utilized our own technologies to try and find some answers, which should help you comprehend why this might be taking place.

Insurance companies come in all sizes and hiring styles.

Smaller businesses let you email the hiring manager your résumé directly. Bigger businesses have application tracking systems, which demand that you sign in, create a profile, respond to a series of questions, and then submit your CV.

This procedure needs to be repeated at every business that uses an ATS, and it could take up to an hour to finish. Your resume is crucial to the human resources department if you apply directly. The manner you respond to queries when applying using an ATS is crucial since it creates a good first impression. (Learn about the concerns with the ATS and resumes here.) In our poll, jobseekers made it very clear that they find the application process to be onerous and that, in some circumstances, they are unsure as to whether their application or résumé has even been read.

Employers want to hire for their open positions. In our survey, we asked them why they don’t get back with all the job seekers that apply to their open positions and this is what we found out:

1. You are not qualified

In general, more than 70% of the applicants for an available position are unqualified. The same result was discovered by our internal matching algorithm. Job seekers submit applications for positions they believe they are qualified for, but their resumes lack the punch necessary to secure an interview. Unless it is an internal transfer and you can speak with the human resource department directly, applying with your claims CV won’t help if you are in claims and want to shift to an underwriting trainee position. Many of the resumes that employers receive for any of their positions at any level do not even come close to matching what they are looking for, according to the employers, therefore they choose not to get in touch with the applicant.

2. Too many applicants

Employers claimed that they lacked the time to respond to each applicant. They start the interview process as soon as they have a few strong contenders for the position. The majority of the time, this might take two to four weeks. If the job remains open and more individuals apply, they will struggle to handle the inflow of applicants if they believe they already have enough applicants. Although most firms claim to make an effort to respond to every applicant, it could take them up to two months. The problem is a lack of time and internal resources.

3. Someone may already be lined up for the job

The insurance sector is to blame. It’s probable that some of the positions you apply for will fall into this category because many firms must list vacancies even if they already have someone lined up for the position. Also, there are times when the hiring manager and the human resources department do not communicate well. While the human resources department is hiring, the hiring manager may already have someone in mind. Finally, employers said that many job searchers are never informed when some positions are put on hold.

The main lesson for job seekers is that a lot of elements that determine whether you receive an interview are completely out of your control. Making ensuring your resume is optimized is something you can control. Knowing someone within the organization who can help you stand out is still (and always has been) a fantastic tactic.
